Goals and Objectives
Goal #1: CCHS Library implements and facilitates school-wide efforts that support reading literacy.
Objectives:
The teacher librarian will:
• plan for collection development based on the specific needs of the school with input from students and faculty
• support teachers with the creation of fiction- and non-fiction readings lists that align with classroom standards
• develop events that support reading literacy school-wide
Teachers will:
• advertise library events and programs that support reading literacy school-wide
• monitor students' reading progress
• promote reading across the curriculum
• model reading to students in a variety of situations
Students will:
• visit the library regularly as a classroom requirement
• select books based on interests and reading level
Goal #2: CCHS Library promotes integration of technology into the curriculum.
Objectives:
The teacher librarian will:
• instruct students in locating, accessing, and evaluating online resources and using these resources ethically and responsibly
• support faculty and students in using tools such as the library online catalog, LAUSD's Digital Library, and Google Drive to blend technology into the curriculum
• manage and maintain the library website to provide the school community with 24/7 access to resources
• curate online tools and resources based on faculty and student needs
• create digital pathfinders tailored to specific research project needs
• design and deliver lessons that are specific to the needs of new technology being used in the classroom
Teachers will:
• meet with the teacher librarian to discuss existing projects and design new ones
• provide the teacher librarian with copies of research projects no later than a month before the assignment is given
• schedule library orientation sessions to support classroom instruction
• integrate online tools and resources as part of any inquiry-based project
Students will:
• use a combination of print and digital sources when researching for a project
• evaluate online resources according to criteria from the library orientation session
• use new technology to show mastery of standards and 21st-century skills
Goal #3: CCHS Library promotes student achievement through collaborative planning and instruction with core-content teachers.
Objectives:
The teacher librarian will:
• be a driving force in supporting the implementation of the California Common Core State Standards at CCHS
• create opportunities for interaction with faculty and staff to establish a relationship of mutual trust and respect
• meet with teachers during common planning time and conference periods to create research- and inquiry-based projects based on the Big6 Model and aligned with various standards.
Teachers will:
• meet with the TL during scheduled collaboration time
• become familiar with the following: Big6 Model, ISTE Standards, and Model School Library Standards.
