A. Library Curriculum Support
3• The principal role of the school library is to support school curriculum by providing materials that enrich and strengthen classroom teaching and by guiding students to become effective in locating, evaluating, and using information.
• Students have individual access to the library before and after school, and during nutrition and lunch. During school hours, students must have a pass that is signed, dated, and timed by the classroom teacher releasing the student.
1. Hours of Operation:
Mondays from 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
Tuesdays from 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
* PD Tuesdays from 7:30 A.M. to 1:40 P.M.
Wednesdays from 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
Thursdays from 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
Fridays from 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
2. Scheduling:
• Check the Library Calendar.
• Visit the library or email the librarian (psf0891@lausd.net) with day and time of the visit.
• Fill out the Library Visit Online Form.
• Visits must be scheduled at least two days in advance.
• Teachers are expected to supervise their classes while in the library.
• If a teacher is absent on the day of a library visit, the visit will be cancelled. Please do not send your class to the library with a substitute teacher.

4. Common Core State Standards
As students strive to meet the rigor of the standards, certified school librarians will play an essential part in ensuring that 21st-century information literacy skills, dispositions, responsibilities and assessments are integrated throughout all curriculum areas. The teacher-librarian will work closely with teachers to design engaging learning tasks that integrate key critical thinking skills, technology and information literacy skills with subject area content. In addition, the school librarian provides a library program that contains multiple instructional avenues and resources in various formats for the authentic application of information literacy skills.

5. Reading Promotion Programs
The library sponsors and supports many reading initiatives with the goal of promoting literacy and increasing students' interest in reading.
• More than 24,000 books
• Fiction and Nonfiction
• Collection development guided by school community needs and interests
• Collaboration with teachers to support literacy in the classroom
• Literacy Night
• Library Displays
• Book Fairs
• Book Talks
• Author Visits
